Knox – The 5th Debate
Celebrating 150 Years

Vintages is excited to introduce the next in our series of labels... commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Lincoln-Douglas Debates at Knox College.

The Lincoln-Douglas debates were a series of formal political debates between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen A. Douglas in a campaign for one of Illinois' two United States Senate seats. Although, Lincoln lost the election these debates launched him into national prominence which eventually led to his election as President of the United States. The Knox College Campus was the site of the fifth Lincoln-Douglas debate on October 7, 1858. The city of Galesburg, Illinois is proud and deeply conscious of its history. It holds the honor of having the only remaining intact building used in the Lincoln- Douglas Debates, Old Main of Knox College. This special label com- memorates the 150th Anniversary of this historic event.
