Great choice in the ‘burg’
“Vintages has a variety of events all fun, and of course, revolve around wine and wine parings. I have attended their New Years Eve event complete with food and music, their chili cook off where wine was paired with chili —great fun and yummy! We held a class reunion there as a wine tasting reception and most every Friday evening they have entertainment along with wine tasting. It is a great place to visit and an asset to our community.”

Restored and Repurposed
“One of the many historic buildings in Galesburg that has been restored and repurposed. Vintage’s building was a locally owned shoe store for many years and the cubicles that once displayed shoes now displays the 200 different kinds of wine and beer (priced under $20) that are available for purchase. Julie, the owner is very knowledgable about wine and helpful to all when they have questions or want suggestions for a kind of wine purchase. Several times during the year she will have “Food and Wine” paring dinners which she prepares and the food is beautifully dispayed and delicious. She also does a beautiful job of preparing gift baskets that she prepares on an individual basis. On Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. live music is provided. Always available are the wine tastings.

Great ambience, wonderful owner
“Vintages has a very solid selection of wines, and Julie goes out of her way to find selections for her clients. She also hosts events such as wine tasting dinners, parties (we celebrated my wife’s birthday with drinks and hors d’ouevres for almost 50 people), and weekend musical performers. Quite a place for a relatively small town.

“The woman working there (the owner?) was extremely friendly and invited us to taste some of the wines that she had open. Everything we tasted was quite good, and she introduced us to an aerating gadget that we were skeptical of. She opened a new bottle, a nice merlot, and gave us a taste test of before aerating and after. Not only was there a huge difference but it was fun to learn about how different a wine can taste with some oxygen in it – something that would be difficult to taste test against without such a demonstration.”
“Her tasting pours were generous (not stingy like in chicago) and she was a genuinely delightful individual. Another customer came in and the four of us had a great conversation and my girlfriend and I learned quite a bit about Galesburg. If i am ever in Galesburg again, I will ABSOLUTELY be dropping in on Vintages to grab a few bottles, taste some wine, and have a good conversation. You should do the same.”
